Carmen Camacho, M.A., L.S.W., L.C.P.C.
Carmen is a full time clinical therapist at Advicates Inc. in Framingham, MA .She graduated cumlaude from the Catholic University of PR with a BS in psychology and a minor in Chemistry. She continued her education to obtain a MA in Psychology with a minor in psychobiology from SUNY Binghamton in 1990. Additionally, she is verified as a Medical translator. Carmen has over 25 years of experience as a therapist and crisis clinician in private and ER/crisis intervention. Her experience includes work for the Department of Children and Family Services in Brooke Co, NY, devloping a program to assist migrant communities for the diócesis of Joliet Catholic Charities in IL. and directing the crisis team for children at Mujeres Latinas en Acción in Chicago, IL. In her free time (at her non paid full time job) Carmen is on the Board of directors at the HPS Network, as she has HPS herself. She volunteers her time as the New England Area Coordinator as well as running the TIPS program (Transplant Information and Peer Support). The program offers information, guidance and support to those going through the transplant process. Carmen also works with the clinical team offering support, education and advocacy to all members including newly diagnosed families. The Network’s monthly calls for adult members with HPS and parents/caretakers of persons with HPS are planned and moderated by Carmen. These calls are in English and Spanish. Carmen also moderates the various social media groups offered by the Network. Carmen is currently listed for a double lung transplant herself and still never misses an opportunity to educate and advocate for HPS the community! Carmen resides in Massachusetts with her husband, family and two dogs.
